{"id":449,"date":"2017-07-07T19:11:04","date_gmt":"2017-07-07T18:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/documentation.particleflocker.com\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=449"},"modified":"2017-07-21T19:10:02","modified_gmt":"2017-07-21T18:10:02","slug":"random-between-2-values","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"http:\/\/documentation.particleflocker.com\/?docs=particle-flocker-user-guide\/system-components\/particleflocker\/attribute-output-types\/random-between-2-values","title":{"rendered":"Random Between 2 Values"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Using this attribute type means that every particle in the simulation will be assigned a random value between the specified minimum and maximum values.<\/p>\n<p>For example if the <em>Boid Separation<\/em> attribute is given the values min=1.5 and max = 2.5, each particle in the simulation will be assigned a random value between 1.5 and 2.5 as their <em>Boid Separation<\/em> value.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-290\" src=\"http:\/\/documentation.particleflocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RangeType.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"506\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"http:\/\/documentation.particleflocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RangeType.jpg 506w, http:\/\/documentation.particleflocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/RangeType-300x114.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The randomly chosen per-particle values are remembered for the duration of the simulation, however they are not saved with the scene and so if you close and re-open a scene you may find the simulation is not identical to the last time you ran it.<\/p>\n<p>Also if either of the extents (min or max) are changed then all stored values will be immediately re-calculated. This is to ensure that the new extents are used by all particles.
